Purgatory Chasm Trip - May 25-27, 2012
Purgatory Chasm, located in Sutton, MA, was the May destination for Troop 17. We camped right in the State park, then worked with a park ranger on the Geology Merit Badge. Afterwards, the Scouts were able to explore the Chasm's unique rock formations, which feature 70 foot granite walls for over a quarter of a mile. Shallow caves and a wide variety of rock formations, with such romantic names as The Corn Crib, The Coffin, The Pulpit, Lovers' Leap and Fat Man's Misery, were explored thoroughly by the Troop.
